Cuts for a Cause &Mani's for a CureJuly 29, 2006In the summer of 2006 we hosted a breast cancer campaign for the Susan Coleman foundation. We did this for two reasons. The first was that we have customers affected each year by cancer. The second was because of the impact this has on our customers, their families and the community. Dealing with cancer really hits home for us and we felt like it was our responsibility to help anyway we could. We rallied with local businesses to raise money for the event and sold T-Shirts to raise money for what would turn out to be a sweltering 98 degree day! HOO RA! We sold cookies, raffled off gift basket and of course we cut hair and manicured nails all in the name of a cure! A great time was had by all and we raised over $1,000. for the people walking the three day. Below you will find pictures of the event and articles about the event. We look forward to hosting another one again in the future! Below is the Article Published by the Leominster Champion MAKING A DIFFERENCE On Saturday, July 29, Kimberly Sherman-Cook, Karen Sorrentino, Jennifer Sheldon, and Katie Martineau of the Avalon Full Service Salon, raised $1,282 for the Three-day Walk for Breast Cancer. The event, called "Cuts-for-a-Cause and "Mani's-for a Cure", was held in the parking lot of the salon. During the event, the women sold cookies, handmade jewelry, and most importantly manicured nails and cut hair for donations all in the name of our cause; breast cancer research. In addition, they rallied donations from local businesses, including Morning Star, Dr. Fonatine, Dr. Gallagher, F&M Tool and Die, Four Points Sheraton, WS Beauty Supply. Among those who participated in the event were cancer survivors and others currently fighting the disease, as well as people who just wanted to get in on the action. The owners of the salon expressed their gratitude to each person who made the event possible. | | Katie Martineau (submitted photo) |
